Hello guys, this is Sir Elbert. Welcome to The Last Game, this is vlog number 6. Today, let's talk about first day of school.           What to do on the first day of school as teachers. As for me, I do four things. Number 1 is to prepare or have all the materials ready. Ready the attendance sheet, class program, teacher's program, teaching materials, the students information sheet or students profile and so on and so forth. Okay, that number 1.              Number 2: stand at the door when the students arrive. Just be firm, controlled and consistent. Do not be so over welcoming or soft since this first day is actually the start of your classroom management. So make sure you are firm, controlled and consistent. Okay that's number 2.           Number 3 is greet the students. You if could greet them one by one that would be better. If you have...

One Aphorism / Proverb One Class Day (The Last Game Vlog No. 5)

Hello everyone, this is Sir Elbert and welcome to my vlog, THE LAST GAME, this is vlog no. 5. Before anything else, thank you very much to all watching my videos and sharing my vlog. I hope this helps our fellow teachers, new teachers, student teachers and eventually I hope this will help our future teachers .           Yesterday, we talked about the monthly school calendar, and in that calendar we will be having 190 class days for school year 2023-2024, and one of the things that I actually do is to give one word and it's meaning every class day. So if there are 190 class days, I will prepare 190 words which I actually share to my students after prayer and before the lesson proper. There is another alternative that we, teachers, can use. Because I remember way back 2009, 2010 and 2011, and maybe around 2012 also, I was a Grade 6 adviser. Now, I am a Grade 6 adviser but before I have been a Grade 4 adviser for ...

One Word One Class Day (The Last Game Vlog No. 4)

Hello everyone, this is Sir Elbert. Welcome to my vlog The Last Game, this is vlog # 4. Today is August 17, the fourth day of Brigada Eskwela, just got here from cleaning the classroom. The classroom preparation is actually not finished yet. After doing some classroom cleaning, I'm back here to check my notebook. I have notes here for August 17, before and after cleaning works, I need to write words. What are the words for? Word for the day. In my class, everyday, just after prayer and before different subject lessons, I have word for the day. Everyday I will write one word on the chalk board, and I will write it's meaning. I get the meaning from the Webster Dictionary. Why do I do this? Just to make sure that everyday when there are classes, they have a new word learned.           As I read the monthly school calendar of activities this school year, from August to June all in all we have 190 school days. So, ...

Checking the First Three Months in the School Calendar and Lessons I Got from Hot Tips for Teachers (The Last Game Vlog No. 3)

Good day everyone, this is Sir Elbert.           Today is August 16, and the third day of our Brigada Eskwela. As I said last time, one of the things that I usually do within this period of time is to read some of the DepEd orders, especially the DepEd order which contains the implementing guidelines on the school calendar and activities for the coming school year.           This is the DepEd order, and somehow I have already read it. After reading the guidelines, actually the most frequent part that I check is the enclosure number 2. So the DepEd order has enclosures. This enclosure number 2 has the monthly school calendar of activities for the school year. What I do as a simple classroom adviser, I check the first three months. I check carefully if ever there are some activities that I am involved as a Science Teacher, as a Classroom Adviser and sometimes as an adviser of an organizatio...

Four Things I Do Before Opening of Classes (The Last Game Vlog No. 2)

Hi! Guys, again this is Sir Elbert, welcome to my vlog #2. Today is August 15, the second day of our Brigada Eskwela, and the  opening of classes in public schools here in the Philippines will be on August, 29, 2023. So we still have about two weeks to prepare for the opening of classes.            Now, as a teacher, what are the things that I do as preparations. There are four things I always do. First is I take a look at some of the latest DepEd Orders, especially DepEd Order on the implementing guidelines of the school calendar and activities for the coming school year. That's one. Second is I revisit /  reread my book on classroom management. Actually that book is a collection of classroom management ideas. I bought the book in Legazpi City way back 2009. Tomorrow I will show the book to you, I forgot the names of the two authors. So that's number 2, read books about classroom management ideas. Then...
